Tuesday, October 08, 2019

Marshfield, WI (April 10, 2017) – Today the Marshfield Area YMCA announced the start of the public phase of the “Changing Lives. Building Futures.” Capital Campaign that will allow the Y to renovate and expand its current facility, as well as form strategic partnerships with other community organizations. To date, the capital campaign has already raised nearly $9 million. For the public phase of the campaign, the Y is asking the community to support $1 million to complete the project.

“As community leaders, businesses, educators, citizens, and parents, we all must continue to look for new ways to ensure our community remains a great place to live, work and raise a family. The new Y facility will be home to a collaboration like nothing our rural community has ever seen before. The time has come to reach out and ask our community to help in this final phase of fundraising,” said David and Tammy Meissner, YMCA Campaign Co-Chairs.

The renovations and expansion of the Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA are expected to begin this fall. The Y is projecting that the building should be complete by fall 2018, however the size, scope and timing of the project will ultimately be determined by the generosity of the community in support of this effort.

Plans for the renovation include a new state-of-the-art healthy living (fitness) center, youth center with licensed child care and after school care, a multi-sports complex, welcome center, member lounge and multi-generational community room with teaching kitchen.

The Y also plans to partner with Marshfield Clinic Health System to offer the Youth Net after school program, as well as innovative community wellness programs. Additional space will allow a partnership with Wood County Head Start, providing support to families and giving children the critical early learning foundations to prepare them for school. The Y will also work with the Marshfield School District to provide space for their Alternative High School.
