AQUATICS: LIFEGUARD - Marshfield Location

Hours: Part-time
Pay: Competitive pay. Starting wage $9.50 and up depending on relevent experience. Includes a YMCA membership.
Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Pool Operations Director, and in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the Marshfield Area YMCA, the lifeguard will be responsible for supervising the aquatic area to prevent accidents, assist YMCA members and guests, and keep the pool area safe and clean. The lifeguard will create a safe and enjoyably atmosphere by being assertive and courteous when enforcing pool rules, regulations, and policies. The lifeguard will also act in accordance with the training and certifications received by the YMCA, American Red Cross, and/or other reputable associations approved by the Aquatic Director. Furthermore, the lifeguard will be held accountable for pool chemistry readings, cleaning, completing accident/incident reports, and attending staff meetings and trainings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Be on deck and prepared to work at the scheduled time.
2. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times. Treat all members and guests with respect. Problems with the facility, members, or other staff must be directed to the Pool Operations Director.
3. Inspect pool area daily for availability of rescue equipment, hazardous or unsafe conditions and report conditions to Aquatic Director or maintenance department immediately.
4. Know and enforce all rules courteously and fairly to all participants.
5. Obey all facility rules and policies. When not working you must follow the rules and directions of the lifeguard on duty.
6. Wear proper uniform at all times while on duty: swimsuit, staff lifeguard shirt, rescue tube, fanny pack, and whistle.
7. When on duty the lifeguard must have a rescue tube within arm’s reach at all times. Rescue equipment is not to be used for any purpose than rescues.
8. Maintain constant surveillance, watching for individuals needing assistance, and aiding swimmers when necessary.
9. Before swim lessons clear the pool(s) and have all participants sit against the wall until their instructor arrives to take control of their class.
10. Follow the guidelines learned from your lifeguard training on correct pool guarding; positioning yourself to view the entire pool area(s) easily. Sit or stand erect at your station. Pay special attention to small children and poor swimmers during your scan of the pool(s) especially lower levels of swim lessons. Assist new participants that may not be familiar with the facility. Keep eyes on pool at all times using 10/10 scanning to scan your entire area of responsibility.
11. Know, follow, and practice correct procedures for handling emergencies as demonstrated in your lifeguard training and in-services.
12. Complete accurate records as trained; including pool chemical readings as well as accident/incident reports.
13. Attend all aquatic and lifeguard meetings, debriefings, trainings, and in-services. Notify the Pool Operations Director if unable to attend.
14. Follow pool opening and closing procedures. Remain on duty until relieved by another guard. Never leave the pool unguarded. All doors should be locked and secure when closing the pool.
15. Enforce the pool schedule and communicate with swimmers regarding the schedules use of the pool.
16. Keep the pool area and office clean, and paths free of obstructions. Report any hazards to the Pool Operations Director or maintenance staff.
17. Follow all policies and procedures as outline in the Marshfield Area YMCA Employee Handbook.
18. Obtain qualified substitutes for any absences and complete appropriate substitution reports.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Level Desired: At least 16 years of age.

Duties/Responsibilities: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Swim Instructor at Marshfield Area YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swim classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
2. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
3. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and, as appropriate, refers program participants and families to other programs.
4. Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
5. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
6. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
7. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

Experience Needed for Job: Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with Red Cross standards.

AQUATICS: SWIM TEAM ASSISTANT COACH - Marshfield Location

Duties/Responsibilities: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Pool Operations and Aquatics Directors, the swim team assistant coach promotes all aquatic and Health & Safety Programs, maintains proper Health and Safety Standards, and assists in general supervision of the aquatic facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Teach all levels of swimming to improve technique of swim team members.
2. Assist Aquatics Director with planning, implementing, scheduling and evaluating all groups of swim team.
3. Responds appropriately and proactively to member concerns.
4. Effective communication from the department is key to members' satisfaction and member commitment to the Y.
5. Must know and be able to maintain mechanical functions of the pool and must be aware of risk management in all areas.

Working with the Lead Child Care Teacher, the primary responsibility of the Assistant Child Care Teacher is to make a difference in the lives of your children and families. Assistant Teachers are critical to the success of our child care program. You will assist the Lead Teacher in all aspects of the care of the children. Duties/Responsibilities: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Summer Camp Director is in direct supervision and gives direction for the children and staff at our Healthy Kids Day Camp Program. This position is vital to helping implement all engaging activities that are planned for each group and being creative during unplanned timeframes. It is essential that the Assistant Summer Camp Director is confident with the ability to problem solve for everyday situations that may arise at the program.

CHILD CARE: SUMMER DAY CAMP COUNSELOR - Marshfield Location

Duties/Responsibilities: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y’s Day Camp Counselors provide enthusiasm and direction for the children in the program. They implement a variety of engaging activities and projects for the group in a safe and positive environment. Counselors are responsible for ensuring the safety of participants while they are enrolled in day camp both on premise and during field trips. This position requires that counselors participate in activities with enrolled children rather than passively supervise children.

FACILITIES: MAINTENANCE - Marshfield Location

Hours: Full-Time Hourly
Pay: $16.00-$17.50 per hour. Includes a YMCA Membership
Duties/Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, maintenance personnel perform a wide variety of maintenance duties in order to provide an orderly and safe environment. May perform duties such as minor repairs, emergency calls for service, and work closely with other employees to meet custodial needs in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
2. Performs various maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, installation and repair to fixtures, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC.
3. Operates power equipment such as hand and power tools.
4. Performs preventative maintenance in and around the facility.
5. Performs lawn care, snow removal and other general building/facility maintenance or repair projects as needed.
6. Assists with other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Duties/Responsibilities: Inspire members and the community to reach new heights in their healthy living goals as you listen attentively to their needs, aspirations and fears, and customize a program to help them achieve more than they thought possible. SCHEDULE:
Part-time with potential to train full-time as you build your client base. Requires flexibility to work schedules that meet the needs of the clients at our Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA-Marshfield location.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication skills.

- Understanding of exercise science and how it relates to working with “Health Seekers” of all ages and abilities required.
- Personal training sessions may call for you to demonstrate exercises (crunching, squatting, bending and moving), lift weights, and move/set up equipment up to 50 pounds.
Education Level Desired: - A current personal training or related certification accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) is required. Must maintain required CEC’s and certifications throughout employment.
- A degree in Exercise Physiology or related field is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certifications are required within the first 60 days of employment.
Experience Needed for Job: Minimum six months’ experience in personal training or wellness coaching preferred.
Specific Training Desired: YMCA Strength and Conditioning certification and participation in Listen First and Model of Influence Training is required within the first six months of employment.

HEALTHY LIVING: WELLNESS COACH - Marshfield Location

Hours: Part-time - Marshfield Location

Duties/Responsibilities: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. At the Y, we support members in achieving their personal wellness goals as a part of our commitment to improving the nation’s health and well-being. The Wellness Coach will deliver an exceptional member experience in the way we engage with members:
• Support members on their personal wellness journey to reach their goals and achieve healthy spirit, mind and body.
• Welcome members into an environment where they feel respected and physically and emotionally safe.
• Connect members to the people and resources that help them achieve their goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Build effective, authentic relationships with members. Welcome new members; greet and engage members and guests; conduct interviews.
2. Conduct new member wellness orientations, learn member’s wellness goals, and create and support an engagement plan that helps them achieve those goals. The engagement plan should include various Healthy Living Initiatives as deemed appropriate to the member’s goals including: Personal Training, Small Group Training, and Group Exercise; provide appropriate marketing and communication materials.
3. Employ approved wellness strategies that ensure participant’s health, safety, and well-being as they achieve their wellness goals.
4. Work closely with Personal Trainers, Group Exercise Instructors, and Yoga Instructors to provide best collaborative member experience.
5. Develop a good understanding of all the Y has to offer, help members build connections with all relevant program staff, and share the many reasons why the Y is So Much More!
6. Maintain a safe and clean environment in the Healthy Living and Strength Training Center. Stock resources in each area and enforce guidelines and safety rules. Inform Director immediately of any equipment issues or breakdowns, unsafe conditions or problems.
7. Monitor and enforce age restriction in centers. Make appropriate recommendations for those not meeting the age requirements.
8. Maintain a consistent presence in the Healthy Living and Strength Training Center and conduct frequent walk-throughs to be accessible to members and guests.
9. Support fundraising initiatives.
10. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
Education Level Desired: High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least 18 years old. Experience in wellness coaching or wellness environment field preferred. Completed coursework (e.g. 2-year degree) or equivalent experience and education/certification in health and wellness, personal training, or related field is helpful. Training is available to the right person with a passion for the Y, health and wellness, and serving others.
Experience Needed for Job: Demonstrated passion for health and wellness and motivating others in a healthy lifestyle is critical. Must possess enthusiasm, self-direction and excellent communication and people skills.
Specific Training Desired: Certifications must be obtained and maintained within the first 90 days: CPR, AED, First Aid (training provided). YMCA Foundations of Strength & Conditioning (if not a certified Personal Trainer), Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens.

MEMBERSHIP: BUILDING SUPERVISOR - Marshfield Location

Hours: Part-time. Must have a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
Pay: Competitive pay. Includes a YMCA membership.
Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Member Engagement Coordinator, the Building Supervisor is responsible for engaging with and providing quality customer service to our members and guests. The person is responsible for opening and closing the YMCA, monitoring security procedures and facility operations in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. Our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility must be exhibited in all aspects of work within the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ability to build relationships with our members and guests with a positive and pleasant personality.
• Ability to sell memberships; register members and participants for classes and programs, and provide guidance in relation to program offerings and activities.
• Applies excellent communication skills during phone calls and tours to understand prospects’ needs and create interest in YMCA membership.
• Maintains, and, when necessary, applies knowledge of the pool, healthy living center, strength training center, wellness center, and the rules and regulations of each area.
• Punctual for all shifts.
• Ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
• Oversee the buildings and grounds to ensure a safe environment that adheres to the safety standards and policies of the YMCA.
• Maintain CPR certifications and attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
• Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Complete incident and accident reports when necessary.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Monitor facility for safety and service interventions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Needed for Job: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, member, guests, and participants.
Specific Training Desired: CPR, First Aid, and AED training required within 60 days of hire.
