CHILD CARE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

# of Openings: 1
Pay: $29,000-$36,000
Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Youth & Family Director and in accordance with the mission of the YMCA, the Child Care Program Director is responsible for assisting with the overall operations of a YMCA Child Care Center and providing quality and safe experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. They directly supervise child care staff.
Essential Functions Include:
- Manages, directs and coordinates the child care program. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Maintenance of attendance records, creating rosters, filing and tracking of food program claims, generation of family contracts, monitoring door and admitting families and guests, greeting and answering questions, assisting in classrooms for breaks and emergencies and ensuring classroom ratios and center standards are maintained during Youth & Family Director absences.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
- Administer according to DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education Level Desired: Prior to beginning work, the child care program director is required to have completed one of the following training requirements:
- Four non-credit department approved courses in early childhood or its equivalent and within 3 years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- Four courses for credit in early childhood education from an institution of higher education and within 3 years of assuming the position, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator Credential.
- An associate degree in early childhood education or child care from an institution of higher education.
- A bachelor degree in early childhood education from an institute of higher education or a license from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to act as a kindergarten or early childhood teacher. A teaching license from another state is acceptable.
- A certificate from The Registry indicating a Registry Level 14 or above.
Experience Needed for Job: Must be at least 21 years of age. At least 2 years of experience as a lead teacher or director in a licensed child care center is preferred.

LEAD CHILD CARE TEACHER

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Pay: $11-$12 per hour. Full benefit package included
Duties/Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Lead Child Care Teacher is to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Duties include: planning and implementing age-appropriate and exciting classroom curriculum that actively engages the children, keeping the children safe while building independent problem solving skills, nurturing the children through encouragement and gentle redirection, maintaining a clean, orderly and inviting classroom full of activity choices, and building relationships with their family members.
Most important of all, candidate must love children and have a passion for teaching. This position requires creativity, flexibility, high energy levels, patience, strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated success as a leader and a team player. Candidate must be able to observe/evaluate groups of children by sight, sound, and active interaction. Candidate must be able to easily move through all areas of the child care rooms and communicate effectively verbally and in written form with children and adults. Candidate must be able to routinely go up and down stairs, lift, carry and load equipment, furnishings, and program supplies (up to 50 pounds).
Education Level Desired: Candidates should have a minimum of a high school diploma and the ability to meet state requirements for education and experience as required by Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Candidates also must be 18 years of age or older.

ASSISTANT CHILD CARE TEACHER

Hours: Full-time & Part-time Employment Available
Pay: $9-$10 per hour with benefits included
Duties/Responsibilities: Working with the Lead Teacher, the primary responsibility of the Assistant Child Care Teacher is to make a difference in the lives of your children and families. Assistant Teachers are critical to the success of our child care program. You will assist the Lead Teacher in all aspects of the care of the children. This includes: implementing curriculum, actively interacting with the children, monitoring activities to ensure safety, nurturing the children through encouragement and gentle redirection, assisting in classroom set-up, clean-up and maintenance. Most important of all, you must have a passion for working with children. This position requires creativity, flexibility, high energy levels, patience, strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated success as a team player. You must be able to easily move through all areas of the child care rooms and communicate effectively verbally and in written form with children and adults. You must be able to routinely go up and down stairs, lift, carry and load equipment, furnishings, and program supplies (up to 50 pounds).

FITNESS GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR - ZUMBA

# of Openings: 1
Hours: 1-2 classes per week, primarily in the evenings
Pay: Based on experience
Duties/Responsibilities: Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Zumba® Instructor provides instruction and maintains a safe environment while conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable exercise programs for our members, while keeping classes fresh with new music and choreography.
Experience Needed for Job: One year of group exercise instructing is preferred. Certification in specialty format (Zumba, Accredited Group Exercise). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Specific Training Desired: Safety certifications for CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention must be acquired before an applicant may begin teaching. Training opportunities for these safety certifications are available through the Y.

SUMMER DAY CAMP COUNSELOR, SUMMER CHILD CARE LEADS & ASSISTANTS

Hours: Monday-Friday: 20-30 hours per week
Pay: Based on Experience
Duties/Responsibilities: The Day Camp Staff is required to implement a program designed for youth ages 5-13 who are enrolled in Y summer camp programs. This program is designed to provide direct supervision of a group of children through a variety of engaging activities and projects for both large and small groups specifically geared toward being outdoors. Day Camp staff will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of participants while staff participates in activities with enrolled children which can range from quiet time to helping with swim lessons. Candidates must be energetic, patient and ready to have a fun summer.
Experience Needed for Job: Must be 18 years of age.
