John Nystrom, Executive Director
Born and raised in the Midwest, St. Cloud, Minn., and a graduate of the UW-La Crosse, John has spent the first 17 years of his career with the YMCA of Greater NY and the past six as the Executive Director of the Camping Services branch. He officially joined the Marshfield Area YMCA on May 1, 2008.
Mary Kowalski, Finance/HR Director
Mary Kowalski has been with the Marshfield Area YMCA since February 1999. A YMCA Certified Director, she started as the Office Manager and is now the Finance/HR Director. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. In her free time, Mary enjoys camping, reading and cross stitching. She and her husband Brad have 3 daughters. What Mary likes most about the Marshfield Area YMCA is working with the friendly and helpful staff that all have the same objective of being there for the YMCA members and guests.
Sara Henrichs, Senior Program Director
Sara started at the YMCA in August 1994 as an Early Childhood Teacher, Swim Lesson Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and CPR and AED Instructor. Sara is certified by the YMCA USA as a Director. She is a graduate of Leadership Marshfield 2004-2005 and has attended numerous YMCA Certifications and trainings. She and her husband, Randy, have 4 daughters. In Sara's free time, she enjoys spending time at their cabin with family and friends.
Scott Schweikl, Interim Membership/Wellness Director
A Marshfield native, Scott joined the YMCA in 2001 after spending 5 years as a sales manager with Powerhouse Aerobic and Fitness in Niles, Ill. A lifelong "gym rat," Scott enjoys strength training and cycling, and is a YMCA Certified Personal Trainer. Whether doing a membership presentation to a new corporate client or helping someone in the fitness center, Scott enjoys the Y's positive culture and atmosphere, and assisting all age groups in their pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
Dawn Justman, Youth/Family Director
Dawn Justman comes to the Marshfield YMCA after working seven years as the Child Care Director at the Dubuque Community Y in Dubuque, Iowa. While in Iowa she managed eleven before/after school school age sites, a full-day summer/holiday program and preschool with wrap-around child care. Dawn has attended YMCA trainings on Child Care Administration, Principles of Child Care and Working with 5-9 Year Olds. Dawn has an Early Childhood Associates degree along with credentials in infant/toddler care, administration and adult education.
Dawn and her husband Jim grew up in the Stratford area and are excited to be back closer to family and friends. They have three grown children David (and fiance' Suzanne), Terumi, Jacob and a black lab, Daisy. In her spare time Dawn enjoys quilting, cooking, and going up to northern Wisconsin to their cabin.
Richard Berg, Property Manager
A native of Marshfield and a two year term in Vietnam, Dick currently resides in Pittsville with his spouse Robbie of 16 years. Has a spoiled cat named Hermes. Has a son who is a Marshfield police officer. Dick enjoys hunting and hobbies include repairing computers. Dick has built two homes of which he is very proud and has 30 years experience in construction/cement.
Kyle Schicker, Sports/Teen Director
Kyle is a newcomer to the city of Marshfield. He comes all the way from a small town near Madison. Kyle attended UW-Whitewater, earning a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Recreation Programming. Kyle is addicted to aerobic exercise and can most often be found in the weight room or playing pickup basketball in the gym. Kyle is excited to be here at the YMCA, where he is always looking for the opportunity to make new friends.
Kristin Klement, Aquatic Director
Kristin, a longtime resident of Marshfield, joined the YMCA staff in September 2006. She and husband Mark have two school-age children. Kristin has attended UW Center Marshfield and MSTC. She is a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor. Kristin worked at the Marshfield Y as a teenage guard, swam competitively for almost ten years and loves almost anything to do with the water. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with family swimming, camping, fishing, walking, biking, skiing, gardening and taking pictures. She is looking forward to spreading her love of water and water safety with the community.
Molly Michalek, Group Exercise Coordinator
Molly started her career at the Marshfield Area YMCA in 2000 as a Group Exercise Instructor. In 2002, she stepped up and accepted the role of Group Exercise Coordinator. Her certifications include Group Exercise Instructor, Personal Training, Yoga, Pilates, and Cycling. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband, and, of course, exercising.
Aaron Heiss, Head Swim Team Coach
Aaron joined the Marshfield Area YMCA in September 2007, ten years after he first started life guarding at the Oshkosh YMCA. He has since taught swim lessons and coached swim teams at the Appleton YMCA, Neenah-Menasha YMCA, and most recently was Head Swim Team Coach at the Stevens Point Area YMCA. Aaron attended UW-Stevens Point, where he studied Interior Architecture and German, and swam competitively. While competing for UWSP, Aaron became an NCAA Division III All-American swimming breaststroke on the 400 Medley Relay. He also trained and competed with a local swim club in Magdeburg, Germany during a semester abroad. Aaron looks forward to meeting every new face, and spreading his love of the water to others!
Nancy Arndt, Administrative Assistant
Nancy and husband, Bill, are life-long area residents. Bill is the general manager at V&H Automotive Inc. Before employment at the YMCA, Nancy worked in the office of Marshfield Christian School for 6 years; and before that was a stay-at-home mother to Andrew, John, Anna and Robert. Nancy is glad to be a part of the YMCA staff, believing in its charitable mission and programs that serve to build the whole person, spirit, mind and body.
